History of Tv3's "Tomatic".
El Tomàtic is a character on Catalan television who appeared for the first time in the program Super 3 or Club Super 3, broadcast from 1991.
It was a mixture of phone and tomato with sunglasses that talked and had an answering machine where the supers asked him for videos.
Towards the beginning of the 2000s, Tomatic started to have its own program, Top Ten Tomatic, where he was a disc jockey, and music videos and interviews were broadcast, contests were proposed to the supers and there were also gags between spaces, starring by Tomatic himself along with Cousin, his cousin.
The Tomatic had a completely extroverted and crazy character who during the first stage was accompanied by the Verona, another phone that was the antithesis of the red tomato: serious, laid back... and with which he was in love.
Fins i tot li va dedicar un tema al seu disc «Transtomàtic Express» (1997) anomenat «Oh! Verona».
During the following years, he became the most recognized icon of Catalan television and was associated with all the children's programs of TV3.
L’any 2007, el Tomàtic va passar a formar part d’una nova campanya publicitària per a promocionar la televisió digital, que va ser llançada per la cadena catalana. Aquesta campanya es va dir «Tomàtic On», en la qual Tomàtic era el protagonista d’una sèrie d’anuncis publicitaris on explicava els beneficis de la televisió digital.
Avui dia, el Tomàtic continua sent un dels personatges més reconeguts del Canal 33 i és usat per a promocionar cada vegada més productes relacionats amb la televisió catalana. A més, ha estat el protagonista de diverses sèries infantils com «Coneixem al Tomàtic» o «Tomàtics».

In 2016, the screenwriter and monologist Andres Palomino publish the book «Generació Tomàtic» which pays tribute to the childhood memories of an entire generation
