• Know how to use the relevant tools to intervene with children in their family context.
• Identify the meaning of the symptom and its function in family dynamics
• Apply a structured intervention based on psychoanalytical/systemic approaches, and Art-therapy techniques.
• Develop skills in the use of puppets as mediation to enhance the patient's self-image and their perception of their role in the family.
– Two days of training (12 hours)
– Introduction to the intervention protocol and its theoretical background
• The theoretical background of the 'symbolic transformation', based on two sources: The link between the nature of the puppets and theanimism of which Freud spoke in 'Totem and Taboo' (Freud 1919), and the creative methods in family and couple therapy called 'Floating Objects' of (Caillé, Rey 2004) (Callié 2007).
• The puppet as a transitional object based on Winnicott's concept of transitional phenomena (Winnicott 1974)
• The clinical practice of puppets in the framework of the EPR (Embodiment, Projection, Role) (Jennings 1998)
• Presentation of a structured clinical intervention (protocol) (15 sessions), to treat children's disorders with the use of puppets, within the framework of analytical/systemic approaches.
• Presentation of a practical case,
• Application of techniques including crafts and role play for a better understanding of clinical intervention.
Karim DAKROUB, he is a theater director, puppeteer, clinical psychologist/psychotherapist and psychosocial consultant. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Theater Academy and other universities. He is currently a professor at the University of Lebanon. As founder and president of the KHAYAL Association for Arts and Education, he has designed and directed several cultural, social and psychosocial projects and has worked with several local and international organizations. His marionette plays have been performed at many festivals around the world. He has worked as a psychosocial expert and trainer in response to various wars and crises in the Middle East.
After many years of working with the puppet applied to vulnerable populations, such as refugees and victims of military actions in the Middle East.
