Inauguration of the International Puppet Museum of Catalonia - Teia Moner

Masia Can Falguera. Museu de Titelles de Catalunya

The Museu Internacional dels Titelles de Catalunya-Teia Moner will celebrate the opening day this coming Saturday, November 19, from 5 pm.

The International Puppet Museum of Catalonia-Teia Moner (MIT), the the first equipment of this kind in our country, it is located in the farmhouse of Can Falguera (14th century) and was born from the initiative of the prestigious and renowned puppeteer, multifaceted creator, Teia Moner. .

Teia Moner has explained the mission of MIT and the peculiarities of its museological discourse: "Usually the discourses of other museums are historicist and the pieces are grouped by periods and countries. At the MIT, the pieces are grouped by manipulation techniques, so this allows us to compare the pieces and the techniques according to the country and also helps us discover part of the historical and social evolution of the countries of origin.” Moner, who reviewed the history of the building that houses the museum (Masia de Can Falguera) and the evolution of management to take charge of it, has noted the pedagogical nature of the equipment, which is currently closed to visits by up to 2,000 schoolchildren in the coming weeks and has announced that after the inauguration, during the coming month of December, it would be open to the public. One of the functions of the MIT, according to Moner, will be to "strengthen the technique and promotion of Catalan puppetry, which is being lost and is indigenous to the country." MIT will also have a very strong side of puppet therapy and is actually running a course with Lebanese master Karim Dakroub.

The inauguration will take place this Saturday, starting at 6 p.m., with several events aimed at an audience of all ages, although before that, at 5 p.m., there will have been a guided tour by to the authorities. Later, at 6 pm, there will be short talks in the square in front of the museum, which will kick off various performances and the opening of the MIT to the invited public. On Sunday, MIT will hold an open day with visiting hours every hour on the dot from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 7pm. These visits are interspersed between various performances.
