PUPPET AND THERAPY ASSOCIATION OF CATALONIA

Training and preparation of intervention projects with puppets

The puppets say what we dare not

We currently have many resources to be able to release emotions, to learn how to manage them and become freer and happier.

We enjoy dance, theatre, music, writing, sport... Among them there is one that sometimes goes unnoticed: puppets

These objects intervene as mediators of emotions and as natural communicators. The intimate bond with the puppet as an extension of one's own self fosters a feeling of trust as an expressive instrument. It is devoid of threats and allows a freer expression of emotions.

A little history

Puppets were first used as a therapeutic method in Switzerland by the psychoanalyst, Madeleine Rambert, around 1930, to treat childhood neuroses. Following Anna Freud's guidance on play, and meeting children who had speech difficulties, he came up with the idea of using "the game of squiggles".

In 1978 it was created in France, "Marionette et Thérapie” founded by Jacqueline Tochette. It is the first association with the idea of the need for a meeting place between puppeteers and therapists in order to bring together each of these specific domains to work in the same direction and help people in difficulty. From this first association in France, others were created with the same purpose: Japan, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Brazil, Portugal, Canada, Hungary, Switzerland, Lebanon...

In our house in 2006-07, Teia Moner carried out research in the form of a Study License commissioned by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya and published online: "Methodological strategies and didactic resources to serve students with SEN, in ordinary school contexts, using puppets as a tool in the intervention"

In Catalonia, the Association has its headquarters at the MIT
